(Peaks Island, ME) Richard Boyd Art Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of a solo exhibition of paintings in oil by Jeanne O’Toole Hayman on July 5th at 10:00 am. The exhibit features a selection of exquisitely rendered paintings depicting landscapes and seascapes around the coast of Maine. There is never one season or location that attracts Jeanne to record her interpretations of the world around her. She is equally drawn to the open ocean and the harsh yet beautiful coastline of Maine.

A fine artist Hayman captures the beauty of each study with her distinctive use of complex color combinations and thick impasto gestures. Jeanne will be at the opening reception on Saturday July 6th from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. to discuss her recent series of paintings. The exhibit is on view from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily through July 30, 2013.

A multi- talented artist working in the media of print, encaustic and paintings in oil, Jeanne began to develop her skills at the Mason Gross Center for Innovative Printmaking at Rutgers University and has been honing them ever since. Unlike the technical demands of printmaking oil painting gives Jeanne the freedom to explore the subject by layering color and creating form with thick impasto gestures. Specializing in landscape and seascape paintings in oil Jeanne’s work is well known around Southern Maine. Hayman’s paintings and prints are exhibited regionally and held in numerous private collections. Currently Jeanne lives on Peaks Island, Maine but can be found most days working in her studio at the Bakery Building in Portland, Maine where she is a member and past Co-President of the Peregrine Press an artist run cooperative printing studio.
