August 2013 – Pam Cabanas Exhibits at Richard Boyd Art Gallery
“Back Burner” by Pam Cabanas
(Peaks Island, ME) Richard Boyd Art Gallery opens a solo exhibition of images in pastel and ink wash by artist Pam Cabanas on Friday August 2nd at 10:00 am. Working in studio and en plein-air, Cabanas is well known in the mid coast region for her pastel portraits of sea birds and her ink wash images of the harsh yet beautiful coast of Maine.
Having graduated from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and holding a post graduate degree from the University of New Mexico Pam’s images are an expression of life love and Maine. Pam will be at a reception on Saturday August 10th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm to discuss her recent series of work. The exhibit is on view from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily through August 30, 2013.
A multi talented fine artist working in pastel and ink wash Pam grew up on Long Island, NY and studied ceramic arts at the famed New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University during the 1970’s. While at Alfred Pam “broadened her ideas about art and her place as an artist” and graduated with a BA in Painting and Printmaking. Upon receiving her post graduate degree Pam worked as an educator and production potter before her entrepreneurial spirit led her to own and operate several small businesses in New York before moving to Maine.
Currently, Pam resides in Friendship, ME where she owns a studio and gallery. Pam sees “her paintings as reflections of my awkward dance through life, love and Maine. I hope the work is evocative of mood and emotion. A soft spoken challenge to the tides, skies and seasons: reveal just a dime’s worth of your mysteries.” Pam’s images are exhibited regionally and held in numerous private collections.
